Terrorism is a problem that, unfortunately, takes a large scale globally. In that context, we must mention that America and the American people are not immune to this know world problem.
Al Qaeda and other terror groups are well known to the world, but ISIS or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant plays an essential role in addressing this issue.
This terrorist organization follows an extremist interpretation of Islam, promotes religious violence, and regards Muslims who do not agree with its interpretations as infidels or apostates.
Our 45th current President Donald Trump has a clear decision about terrorism. In his speech in August 2016, Trump said:
“We will defeat radical Islamic terrorism, just as we have defeated every threat we have faced in every age before.”
“But we will not defeat it with closed eyes, or silenced voices. Anyone who cannot name our enemy is not fit to lead this country. Anyone who cannot condemn the hatred, oppression, and violence of Radical Islam lacks the moral clarity to serve as our President.”
The American people have divided opinion on this topic. Some American thinks that defeating the Islamic State is not America’s responsibility but some Americans believe that the US must be involved in this process.
For the record, the battle of Mosul is over, but the war against the Islamic State is far from done. The militants have lost some 60 % of the territory they controlled at the peak of their expansion, but that leaves a sizable area, mostly in Syria but also Iraq, to be recaptured.
